{"id":437,"date":"2022-11-16T06:58:53","date_gmt":"2022-11-16T06:58:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ecocentre.ge\/announcement\/saqartvelos-garemosdacviti-arasamtavrobo-organizaciebis-mimartva-klimatis-charcho-konvenciis-mkhareta-27-e-shekhvedris-monawileebisadmi\/"},"modified":"2022-11-16T13:03:34","modified_gmt":"2022-11-16T13:03:34","slug":"saqartvelos-garemosdacviti-arasamtavrobo-organizaciebis-mimartva-klimatis-charcho-konvenciis-mkhareta-27-e-shekhvedris-monawileebisadmi","status":"publish","type":"announcement_p_type","link":"https:\/\/ecocentre.ge\/en\/announcement\/saqartvelos-garemosdacviti-arasamtavrobo-organizaciebis-mimartva-klimatis-charcho-konvenciis-mkhareta-27-e-shekhvedris-monawileebisadmi\/","title":{"rendered":"Address of Environmental Non-Governmental Organizations of Georgia to the Participants of the 27 Meeting of the Parties to the Framework Convention on Climate Change"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">The undersigned environmental non-governmental organizations of Georgia:<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Bearing in mind <\/b>the principles and requirements recognized by the 1992 United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, consider that:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li3\">The process of climate change is recognized as an irreversible process in the world;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li4\">Cataclysms caused by climate change threaten the existence of life all over the planet, and even if the predictions are only partially justified, there will be great casualties and a crisis in the world economy;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li4\">The 27th planned meeting of the parties to the convention in Sharm el-Sheikh is in the center of attention of the international community and the world expects specific decisions and actions;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li4\">The 27th meeting of the Parties to the Framework Convention on Climate Change is being held at a time when a war is raging on one continent, which is not only harming people &#8211; the serious damage it will cause to the environment is still unpredictable,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p7\"><b>Expressing our concern that:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li4\">The authorities of many countries still do not adequately perceive the threats caused by climate change;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li8\">Effective mechanisms have not been developed by the countries (including Georgia) to fulfill the obligations stipulated by the &#8220;Paris Agreement&#8221; of the Framework Convention on Climate Change,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Expressing our gratitude<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p10\">to the international donor organizations, representatives of the diplomatic corps and all those private individuals and organizations who contribute to the actualization of the climate change problem with their active support,<\/p>\n<p class=\"p12\"><b>We invite the parties to:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li3\">facilitate the coordination of sectoral strategies and elimination of inconsistencies;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li4\">in the conditions of climate change, take into account the threat of sea level rise and the tendency of fresh water resources reduction;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li4\">countries develop a new transport and other economic sectors policy documents taking into account climate changes (electrification, gradual reduction of fossil fuels, encouraging the use of hydrogen fuel);<\/li>\n<li class=\"li4\">promote the increase of the share of low and zero emission electric and suitable for the road (both state and private) motor vehicles;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li4\">promote such development of tourism and other economic sectors, which ensures the processes of de-carbonization;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\">strengthen climate-wise agri-business and agriculture development opportunities;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li4\">promote a significant increase in the contribution of national sources of financing climate change mitigation measures together with international support;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li4\">consider the processes of biodiversity reduction and climate change in an integrated manner, to plan and implement measures supporting the preservation and restoration of ecosystems (including forests);<\/li>\n<li class=\"li4\">strengthen support for measures and &#8220;nature-based methods&#8221; that ensure climate change mitigation for the purpose of biodiversity protection.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p15\"><b>To facilitate:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li16\">the development and implementation of new marine strategies with regard to climate factors, especially sea level rise, and coastal planning;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li16\">the energy efficiency of new buildings, provision of renewable energy and creation of real mechanisms to encourage modernization of existing buildings;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li16\">the development of water basin integrated management systems taking into account climate change factors;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li16\">the development of public awareness systems &#8211; in order to support climate change mitigation and adaptation measures;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li16\">the increase of investments in the development of alternative, sustainable energy infrastructure;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li16\">the increase of investments and state support for alternative energy infrastructures that have a small impact on the environment, by introducing the latest technologies;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li17\">the access to the latest technologies, regardless of the economic development of countries;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li18\">the development and implementation of such national legislation, which ensures the mitigation and adaptation of the consequences caused by climate change.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p20\"><span class=\"s15\">Greens Movement of Georgia\/Friends of the Earth-Georgia <\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p20\">Association for Farmers Rights Defense, AFRD<\/li>\n<li class=\"p20\">Association &#8220;Peaceful and Business Caucasus&#8221;<\/li>\n<li class=\"p20\">Caritas Czech Republic<\/li>\n<li class=\"p20\">Energy Efficiency Foundation<\/li>\n<li class=\"p20\">Georgia International Development Agency<\/li>\n<li class=\"p20\">Wild Nature Conservation Society \u201cTchaobi\u201d<\/li>\n<li class=\"p20\">Genius Loci<\/li>\n<li class=\"p20\">International Center for Environmental Research<\/li>\n<li class=\"p20\">Imereti Scientists&#8217;
