\"\"Today, on November 4, we were on an informational tour in the Dighomi Meadows. Students and teachers of several schools of Rustavi, as well as other interested people, took part in the tour.<\/p>\n

The tour of the Dighomi Meadows was led by activist Anna Trapaidze, the guardian of the Meadows, who told us in detail about the importance of the Dighomi groves and the issues and challenges there.<\/p>\n

Dighomi Meadows are the only place in Tbilisi where flora and fauna characteristic of groves have been preserved.<\/p>\n

The area covers 70 hectares and a large part of it is damaged. Dighomi Meadows is a victim of many environmental crimes.<\/p>\n

As Anna told us, the quarrying of stone and gravel was taking place here in an open-pit manner, which led to the loss of a large part of the forest and its burial in this material; We also saw this quarry on the spot.<\/p>\n

Also, there is a very big problem of pollution with construction, household, specific and other types of waste here, part of this pollution is shown in the video.<\/p>\n

Part of the territory is threatened with alienation.<\/p>\n

Anna has been fighting to save the groves of Digomi for 4 years already and trying to convince people and the state that the grove forest has a unique value, both from the point of view of biodiversity conservation and ecological or educational.<\/p>\n

We also have a floodplain forest of similar importance in Rustavi, and some of the problems are common, it is the duty of each one of us to take care of these places of unique importance, to fight for their protection and preservation.<\/p>\n
