On October 14th, with the support of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and organized by “Eco Centre,” a birdwatching tour took place in the Rustavi Floodplain Forest.

Twenty participants took part in the tour. For many, this was their first visit to the floodplain forest, and many were surprised to discover such a diverse natural environment in the heart of the city.

The tour was led by a professional ornithologist and a local birdwatcher with eight years of experience observing birds in the Rustavi Floodplain Forest. Thanks to their expert knowledge, participants were able to identify 19 different bird species.

This diversity clearly demonstrates the unique ecological importance of the Rustavi Floodplain Forest and its potential as a natural educational resource.

For this reason, “Eco Centre” continues to work on the project “Accelerating Eco-friendly Development: Raising Awareness and Promoting Sustainable Waste Management.” As part of this initiative, the organization, together with citizens, is trying to contribute to the restoration and protection of the floodplain forest.
