Today, June 19th, a working group meeting was held to discuss the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report on the project for setting up and operating a waste recovery (waste oil processing) production facility and a temporary hazardous waste (waste oil) storage facility by “Standard” LLC.
This work meeting differed from others as it involved members of the newly established “Eco Centre” Academy, who learned about the principles and procedures defined by the Environmental Assessment Code. They gained experience working with technical documents and learned about environmental issues related to industrial activities; they also became familiar with the challenges we might encounter in technical documents regarding justifying environmental benefits.
Regarding the company’s planned activities, it involves setting up and operating a temporary waste oil storage facility and a waste (waste oil) recovery technological line. The project envisages receiving hazardous waste – waste oils at the production facility, temporary storage, and their recovery.
During the work meeting, we reviewed the EIA report, with the invited trainer, submitted it for obtaining permission for this activity, and prepared comments.
The public deliberation will be held on Friday, June 21st, at 12:00 PM at Rustavi City Hall, and anyone interested can attend.
The project is implemented with the financial support of the USAID National Governance Program
