On December 10, Eco Centre led a lecture about environmental advocacy within the framework of the ISIE’s project – “Eco Knowledge”.
The project aimed to promote the ecological culture in society, realize the importance of a green and healthy environment and create an eco-friendly environment by raising people’s awareness.
Within our lecture, we shared the green advocacy experience on the example of “Gavigudet”. We discussed in details the importance of civil activism. Furthermore, we shared the challenges as well as achievements, this movement has faced through its activism.
Participants got known with the real picture of the industrial area of Rustavi. Besides, on the example of several factories, they clearly saw the difference and the improvements in regard of compliance with the regulations, in which “Gavigudet” has played a huge and important role.
On top of that, we introduced the participants to the Eco Centre activities, that are implemented in the framework of green advocacy, which includes, for instance, the importance of plastic waste recycling and raising public awareness on this matter.
Most of the participants were not informed about the problem of air pollution in Rustavi until our lecture, hence we are glad, this project increased the number of people supporting us and Rustavi.
