Today, on December 8, “Eco Centre”, with the support of the Open Society Georgia Foundation, organized an informational tour at the plastic recycling factory – “Polyvim” LLC. Pupils from Public School N7 attended the tour.

Within the framework of the tour, company representatives introduced us to a production process and pupils had an opportunity to witness the material, obtained as a result of plastic recycling, which is afterward used in the production of coats, stuffed toys, pillows, and etc.

Besides, during the tour, we discussed the harmful effects of plastic on the environment, as well as on humans, through its entire life cycle; the problem of managing the rising amount of plastic waste and the importance of recycling. Meanwhile, we emphasized, that recycling is not the ultimate goal, since there is no practice in the world for plastic to be completely recycled; and this is the way to just prolong the time until it ends up in the landfill. Consequently, we emphasized that the only correct solution to plastic waste is to alter the consumption of plastic products and say no to plastic.

We are glad, that this informational tour was interesting and informative for the pupils. They once again pointed out, they are willing to develop eco-friendly lifestyles and promote others to follow this track. In addition, pupils have donated around 10 kg plastic bottles to the enterprise.

We would like to thank teacher Inessa for taking the initiative to engage pupils in a useful process.
