“Eco Centre” announced a poster competition for Rustavi schools on the topic of plastic pollution.

We received posters from 11 schools in Rustavi. Specifically, School #3, School #4, School #6, School #12, School #20, School #28, School #26, School #11, Gymnasium, School of Innovations, and School #9 participated in the competition.

Today, October 16, voting for the poster competition among schools was held in our office.

The competition jury members were teachers from participating schools (one teacher from each school), who were selected by the schools themselves for representation.

Before the voting began, we conducted an informational overview where we introduced teachers to the scale of the plastic pollution problem and the harmful effects of plastic on the environment and human health.

Regarding the voting procedure, teachers anonymously voted for their favorite poster in an online format, without knowing which school’s poster they were voting for, and of course, they couldn’t vote for their own school’s poster.

Two rounds of voting were necessary to determine the winner, as several posters received an equal number of votes in the first round. School #12’s poster won by majority vote.

According to the competition terms, we will give 5 seedlings to the winning school. However, all schools received participation certificates and eco-friendly gifts. Also, after the voting, we hosted the jury members at a closing dinner.

The competition was held within the framework of the BREN (Building Resilience in Eastern Neighborhood) project, which is supported by IWPR (Institute for War and Peace Reporting).
