Today, October 26, “Eco Center” organized an excursion to the plastic waste recycling enterprise “Polivim”.

Students from Public School #3, led by one of the most active teachers involved in plastic collection, attended the tour.

On the way to the enterprise, we discussed the scale of plastic production and its harmful properties, introducing young people to the dangers this single-use product poses to the environment and our health.

At “Polivim,” students were introduced to two recycling lines. One line processes PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) material, while the other processes Polyethylene (PE) and Polypropylene (PP) materials.

As a result, recycled plastic is produced in the form of granules and flakes, which supplies the local market and is used for manufacturing plastic items again.

Enterprise representatives detailed the technological process of plastic recycling to students, explaining how they sort, wash, and what stages the plastic items we bring to the factory go through.

The tour proved quite interesting and memorable for the students, and we are confident they will implement this eco-friendly practice with even greater motivation.

The tour was implemented within the framework of the project “Civic Engagement for Green Future” with a grant from the Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR), supported by the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
