Informing the Population about Atmospheric Air Pollution and Environmental Problems in Rustavi

The project “Informing the Population about Atmospheric Air pollution and Environmental Problems in Rustavi” was implemented with the financial support of the Heinrich Boell Foundation Tbilisi Office.

The goal of the project: Advocating the air pollution problem by informing society.

The following activities were implemented within the project:

• Monitoring the industrial area and sharing photo/video footage of emissions with society;
• Creating info-graphics reflecting the air quality data;
• Studying two inspection protocols, made by the Department of Environmental Supervision in 2019-2021 years on the two largest polluting enterprises and preparing reports based on these protocols;
• Preparing posters about the impact of air pollution on women’s health;
• Organizing two movie screenings for pupils;
• Preparing quizzes about environmental issues;
• Two-day training for pupils for advocating green issues;
• “Call 153” Activity – citizens called on the hot-line (153) of the Department of Environmental Supervision;
• “The letter to the Minister” – 20 citizens wrote a letter to the newly elected Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, demanding from the Ministry to publicize a specific plan-schedule, when all the enterprises will operate in compliance with the air-protection regulations;
• Informational tour in the industrial area.
